Next Coffee Company serves up night of laughs

The West Valley has a new comedy spot, on the last Tuesday of each month, at Next Coffee Company, 19420 N. 59th Ave., Glendale. A night of stand-up, food and drink specials and signature specialty coffee, beer and wine all at Late Night Grind, a Premium Comedy Blend.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for the event hosted by AJ the Comic. Cover is $5, and ages 18 and older are welcome.

"Life is funny, laugh hard" is a philosophy AJ lives by. Growing up in a Christian home with a southern mother provided lots of material for comedy.

"Even though I wasn’t really permitted to perform at the dinner table, I still managed to crack a few jokes here and there. Some of them got me sent to my room," she said.

AJ is a stage and screen actress as well as a stand-up comic and has performed all over the Valley and in Las Vegas in various clubs, civic and corporate venues.

"I consider it an accomplishment when I can make people laugh, bonus points if their drink comes out their nose," she said. "I just like to make people feel good and forget about their problems for a while."
